E-Mail Address Encoder

Protect Your Inbox from Spam!

The internet is getting constantly scanned by programs which are collecting e-mail addresses for spammers. When such a harvester finds your e-mail address on a website, the information will be added to a database which may be sold and used by multiple spammers. The result will be an inbox full of spam.

The programs which spider the internet for e-mail addresses are also called spam bots. Most spam bots are only able to extract e-mail addresses which appear as regular text. Some may even translate HTML ASCII codes because this was a very popular protection method in the early days of the internet.

How to Protect Your E-Mail Address Better

By displaying a graphic containing your e-mail address or encoding it with JavaScript, the email harvesters will require more processing power and highly tricked out algorithms to get to your e-mail.

But when you display your e-mail address as in an image, people can not click on it to contact you. Also, there is the possibility to extract text from images using OCR software.

Encoding your e-mail addresses with JavaScript can provide a higher level of security, especially when the pattern of the code is getting mixed. However, you may consider to provide alternatives to users which do not have JavaScript activated.

This is How our JavaScript E-Mail Encoder Works:

  • 1st protection layer: All characters get converted into HTML ASCII codes.
  • 2nd protection layer: A JavaScript code is getting generated assigning each of these converted characters to a randomly named variable. The JavaScript also contains the code to re-align the characters for the output.
  • 3rd protection layer (optional): When you click on the "add security button", you can encode the whole JavaScript itself. This will make the JavaScript code unreadable for humans and adds an additional security layer against spam bots.

To this day, we did not receive any reports that e-mail addresses which are using our protection code are getting spammed.
